Easters Final

"How do i do it idiot i dunno how to work these things man,"

Lucy and Frank have been dating since forever and have been looking at marriage for almost a year now. Since Lucy moved in Frank has been nagging her about not wanting people to know they live together already so his solution to 'being right with God' was to get married.
Frank was your typical church boy that always had to do things the "right way". He had to be in the good books with everyone and never wanted anyone to see his mistakes. He saw himself perfect. Lucy, on the other hand, was more down to earth. A free spirited young lady She saw life as a working process and saw that mistakes were made to be learnt from. This is where they clashed.

I walked out of class on a breezy cool monday waiting for the rain to slap me in the face. To my surprise, Lucy was standing in the rain staring into mid air like she was watching a movie. i tried to get her attention to the point where i had to throw my bottle in her face. She finally snapped out of whatever it was and realised the water sinking into her socks.
"What the hell is wrong with you? Are you sick or what!"
"What are you talking about", ignoring the question, Lucy walked towards the quad.
"Hey babe, i missed you," Frank greeted her with a slobbering kiss.
"Why are you dripping with water? Did you forget to take your clothes off in the shower? jeez lady"

Lucy spent the rest of the day in another world and i wasnt bothered with her little role play so i went home straight after class.

Finally bed time came and i was exhausted, then my phone goes off.
"What d'ya want Frank I'm sleeping," I answered.
"Come over now!" Frank replied
"What the hell its 10 o'clock Frank! Just sleep on the couch she'll forgive you in the morning," I was over their dramatic conflict.
"No idiot its Lucy she's crazy, like literally," he screamed.
"Frank, just go to sleep. Ignore her like you always do. She must be just try'na scare you" I flustered and hung up.

The next morning I met up with Frank and he looked like he hadn't sleep in weeks.
"What the hell happened to you?" I joked as I gave him a lazy slap,
"Lucy is what happened", I chuckled and punched his shoulder, but Frank didn't laugh like he used to.
"Okay .. what happened?" I was curious now.
"When i said she's crazy, I meant it. She was standing in the living room staring at the light bulb like it was just gonna magically turn on or some'n".
Frank had a whole heap of stories that just did not make any sense to me because I had seen all of it in movies before. Movies are made to entertain people not tell themwhat really goes on. I couldn't listen to it, I took it as 'a whole lot of crap'.

The next few days really did change things between Lucy and Frank. Frank got more perplexed as Lucy's behaviour became more delusional. Frank told me he often woke up to her crying in her sleep but no tears were wept. Things were starting to get unusual and may be Frank's stories were actually real, that he wasn't exaggerating this time. All this really got me stirred up inside.

Late that night I couldn't sleep. thinking about Lucy's behaviour was really starting to worry me because all this was too much to take in. Where did all of this come from? Is she sick? are these symptoms of being pregnant? I don't know and I didn't know to take it all in. Then my phone rings.
"Hello,"
"She at it again! but this time I cant get her to snap out of it,"
"Whats she doing?"
"She keeps heading towards the basement. Every time I try and direct her to the bedroom she gets stiff and I cant move her,"
"Coming."

I rushed over, yes in my pyjamas, but I didn't have to barge in as I had planned to. The door was already open with Frank waiting for me. The look on his face said it all.

"Where is she?" I demanded,
"This way".

He lead me down the narrow dull hallway towards a lonely wooden door. Sounded like it needed a makeover by the sound of it when he opened it. Down the dark stairs he lead me. I caught a glimpse of Lucy's gown, bit by bit until we reached the end of the staircase.

"She was talking to the little merry-go-round toy. I don't know who but it directed her to the window and now she's back at the mirror," said Frank with a weak response.

"Do you like my hair like this?" Lucy startled,
"I like rope swings as well," She said again,
"Really? Can you show me how you jumped off?"

At this point Frank was terrified and unsure of what to do but acting fast was something he couldn't 'brush off his shoulder'. Frank hesitated for a tad while and finally came to his senses. He walked up to Lucy, gently placed the palm of his hand on her forehead and his other hand on her back. He tilt her back to confirm he was in control and gently turned her around and walked her back upstairs.

"What the hell was that all about," I honestly could not come to my senses with what I just saw but damn I wanted to know what she was looking at. Yes the typical move, I crept towards the mirror anxious and nervous. I felt the rush of adrenalin spread through my body as I reached for the merry-go-round ... Nah stuff it! I couldn't do it. That tingling feeling behind my neck just pulled my last straw. Lucy's psycho and I didn't want to know anymore. I raced up the stairs and threw the door behind me assuring myself, that was the last!

I stayed away from Lucy and Frank that whole week. In fact, I had planned to stay away from them as much as possible.

So far, things were going great, well it had only been five days so I guess its still early to tell. Then the weekend came, ohhh my good old friend.

My Friday night was going to be breezy and relaxing. I planned to have a dvd night all to myself with the best whittikas chocolate in store, a cup of most finest Pinor Noir that I was saving for something special. All sweet to go. I cruised around in my favourite onesies untill ... my phone goes off.

"Hello?"
"Where have you been all week? why haven't you been answering my called?" Frank agitated.
"Oh Frank," I felt guilty
"Why's your number private?" I replied
"That does't matter. Look I really need your help with Lucy again please. She locked herself in the basement I can't seem to get in"
"Oh Frank just leave her, maybe she just needs some space," I replied
"Pleeeeease!!" he begged

THUMP!

"What was that?" I asked

Silence

"Frank?"

Silence

THUMP!

"FRANK!" I yelled

Silence

"FRANK! WHAT THE HELL!"

Pause

"Sh ..Sh..She's ..." he muttered

"What? she what? what is it?"

THUMP!

"What IS that?" I demanded

"She .. Sh.. She's .. uh .."

"FRANK! BLOODY HELL!"

Waiting for an answer was going to take years and at this point, I was curious. I wanted to know, I needed to know, I HAD to know.

"Fine I'm coming"

I hung up and left straight away .. yes in my onesies.

I drove into a crowded driveway towards a little normal two-story brick  house. Yeah not your usual big old fashioned scary looking house but, how unusual for only two residents?
I hoped out of the car and a little flash caught my attention from the corner of my eye. I looked over to the trimmed bush on the corner of the balcony and there it was again. I walked over and saw the flash again which led me to a little window. I looked through to see what it was and there was Lucy standing in front of the mirror again but this time she was dressed up in her favorite dress. She fitted into a short petite cream lace dress with a bow as a belt around her waist. As she modeled in front of the mirror I caught a glimpse of her face and the face I saw did not belong to Lucy.

"Lucy?" I knocked on the window
"Hey you!" I said louder
"She can't hear you" Frank said surprisingly
"Fliiiip'n hell Frank! Don't do that" I shoved him
"Well .. She won't listen. I've already tried" Frank replied.

I grabbed the nearest block of brick and smashed it through the window. Lucy stopped immediately.

"Lucy" Frank cried
"What the hell do you think your doing!" Lucy yelled
"Lucy, hunny, come here. Your hurting yourself" Frank replied

When I looked over at Lucy, I saw blood dripping from her forearm and blood smudged over her lips and chin.

Then, she let out a loud cry,

"GET OUUUUUUUUUUUT!"

As she screamed a thrash of wind threw Frank and I away from the window and we both smashed into the tree that stood 50 feet from the house. I looked up an saw the rope swing over my head and I fell unconscious.

I woke up from a screeching cat sound and forced myself to sit up.

"Frank, you all good?"

I looked around forcing myself up and I was alone. I looked up and saw these two doors in front of me. I stood up and walked towards the doors and opened them which lead me to the front yard where I hit the tree.

"Lucy what are you doing?"

Lucy was standing under the tree next to the rope swing. I started to make my way to the tree and to my attention was Frank laying on the tree trunk about 2feet up from the ground.

"Frank? I said walking towards him.

"Frank what are you doing get down"

I tugged on his shirt to get his attention but instead I got everything else. Frank flopped on me as we fell flat on the ground under the tree again.

"Get off!" I screamed as I pushed him off. Frank fell next to me back down and I looked over, Frank's face was pale. A thick bruised line drew across Franks neck as he stared upwards. He was dead. I screamed and jumped up away from him and tripped over a tree trunk.

"Whats wrong?" Lucy said gently as she sat leaning against the tree.

"Fr .. Fra .. Frank .."

"Franks tired just leave him," Lucy replied twirling her hair.

I moved backward astonished and marveled at the same time.

"Oh no don't go. You have to come with me Frank's waiting for us"Lucy said

"Frank's dead!"

"No silly'" Lucy replied moving towards me,

"He's waiting we need to go quickly," Lucy grabbed a hold of my ankle and pulled me closer.
I kicked her hand and jumped up trying to catch my balance and run at the same time and instead of getting away from Lucy, I ran straight into her falling back down again.

"I told you to stay!" Lucy said as she jumped on me forcing me down.

"You need to look like me. You need to wear something pretty to where we're going!" she said,

"Here .. I'll help you" Lucy said as she gently kissed my cheek with full control.

The End
